Attentive

A little boy told me that a student in his class was not being ATTENTIVE. I wasn't sure if he even knew what attentive meant. I thought maybe he was just repeating something he heard the teacher say. I asked him what that word meant and he said, "you know, ( student's name ) was not paying attention." I started to laugh because I couldn't believe a 4 year old knew exactly what being attentive meant. I asked him what he thought that child could do to be attentive and he showed me. It is not just learning the vocabulary, it's also learning what you can do to be attentive.
